Hamilton Media Centre & Library

  • 1998 - First Place in International Competition.
  • Awarded the Royal Scottish Academy Gold Medal for Architecture in 1998.

In 1997, Allan Murray Architects was awarded first place in the international competition for the creation of an Arts Centre located adjacent to Hamilton’s town centre. The design was awarded the Royal Scottish Academy Gold Medal for Architecture in 1998.

Hamilton Arts Centre and Library is a hybrid building containing a library, arts facilities, theatre, café and bar. Our proposals create a new public square as well as a visually dramatic building.

The £13 million project was designed to act as a 'jewel in the crown' of Hamilton’s development plans.
