Burnet Point, Abbey Lane, Edinburgh

Burnet Point, Abbey Lane, Edinburgh

A mixed use development for Unite Students and constructed by GRAHAM, the project was initially designed by AMA & CDA and subsequently delivered by AMA & HCD

The development is Unite Students first combined site with build to rent flats and affordable housing in Scotland.

The whole site encompasses 298 student bedrooms and 66 Build to Rent apartments including 20% affordable housing provision operated by Hillcrest Homes.

The scheme benefits from the roof terrace amenity spaces which capitalise on the adjacent view of Arthur’s Seat to the South and through to the City Centre to the West.

The energy design utilized a combination of photovoltaic panels and a portion of air source heat pumps on a green roof system.

The materiality was a combination of traditional buff brick with integrated recesses of grey aluminium sheeting and steel Juliet balcony balustrades.

Welcoming external spaces including a central courtyard as well as the roof terraces add to the communal spirit of this mixed residential development.
